From Farm to Family: The Journey of Fresh Milk

It Starts on Partner Farms

Every packet of Safal milk begins on a partner farm, most of them family-run holdings across the Terai and hill regions. Cows are milked twice a day, and each morning the collection is tested on the farm before it ever leaves the gate.

That first check matters more than people expect. Fat, protein, and bacterial counts are recorded per farmer, which means problems get spotted at the source instead of after processing.

Chilled Within Minutes

Raw milk is perishable. Once exposed to ambient temperature, bacteria multiply quickly and quality drops in hours, not days. Our collection teams reach partner farms on fixed daily routes and cool the milk on the spot.

Within minutes of milking, the cans go into insulated tanks held at four degrees Celsius. From there, refrigerated trucks carry them to the nearest collection centre.

Testing at the Collection Centre

At the collection centre, samples are drawn again and tested against the same standards used on the farm. Milk that fails is rejected, and the farmer is told why, so the next day's milk improves.

Accepted milk is then clarified and pasteurised. Pasteurisation heats the milk long enough to kill harmful bacteria while keeping the taste and nutrition intact.

Packed and on the Shelf

The final stage is packaging. Milk is filled, sealed, coded with its batch and date, and kept chilled until it reaches your local retailer.

Each pack carries a batch code. If anything is ever wrong, that code traces the milk back to the farm and the collection centre it passed through.
